The Perfect Bacon Egg Cup (Step By Step Directions)

People just drool thinking about bacon, so it was no surprise to see this concoction posted on facebook last week. After my wife made this today, I call it pure happiness! See step by step directions below!
White or Wheat Bread
Shredded Cheddar Cheese (optional)
Maple Syrup (optional)
Salt & Pepper

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. When the oven is heating, partially cook the bacon for about 3-5 minutes. You want the bacon to be a little cooked but still pliable. Melt some butter in a small sauce pan and heat over medium low so butter melts. You can add syrup if you choose, we did not. Next you need to cut circles out of your bread slices, we used a glass to cut the 3 inch diameter circle.
Line the muffin pan with bacon so that is circles each mold...
Dip the bread in the syrup/butter mix and put in cup so that it rests evenly at the bottom of the mold.

You may have to do a little trimming of the bread but it’s ok if it doesn’t fit perfectly either..
At this point, we decided to bake the bread and bacon for 5 minutes to set it in place.

Now comes the FUN part! Crack an egg into each mold, don't worry if it goes past the bacon..

When you are done, you can season it with salt and pepper. An additional option would be to give each cup a sprinkle of cheese (you can also add the cheese on top of bread, beneath the egg if you like).
Now you want to put it in the oven (400 degrees) for about 7-10 minutes, cooked enough so that when you wiggle the pan the whites stay still. The end result should look something like this.....

To remove: After letting it sit for a few minutes, carefully using a spoon and your fingers (use another spoon if too hot) to remove them from the pan and serve! Your kids should love these because mine sure did!! Visit my facebook page called Jason Asselin - U.P. News & Video and post a picture of your finished product!!
